Argentina win Canadian leg of Rugby Sevens World Tour

You Cougars won the stage in Vancouver, Canada, of the Rugby Sevens World Tour. The selection of Argentina won Fiji 29-10 in the final to claim their third World Series stage victory.

The Argentinians had a good campaign in Canada. In the group stage, the team drew with France (12-12) and won Ireland (29-16) and Scotland (24-5), qualifying for the quarter-finals. In the knockout stage, Argentina eliminated the England (40-17) and the Australia (24-12) to reach the stage decision.

In the end, the Argentina found the selection Fiji who had beaten the South Americans in the semi-finals of the Tokyo Olympics in August 2021. The Fijians took the lead with a try of Kamineli Rasaku. But soon, the Argentines got three tries in a row and entered the break winning 17-5.

In the second half, Argentina managed two more tries and a conversion to win 29-10. Marcos Monetawho scored two tries in the first half, was named player of the game.

This is the third victory in the history of the Pumas on the World Tour. The others took place in stages in the United States in 2004 and 2009. As a result, the Argentina is in second place in the standings for the 2021/2022 season with 105 points, six behind South Africa on your mind. Three stages close this edition of the World Tour.
