The Canadian rider was injured after suffering a cycling accident and did not take part in the pre-season tests carried out last weekend, also in Bahrain.

Reigning Formula 2 champion and reserve driver for Aston Martin, Drugovich replaced Stroll and took turns in the sessions with Alonso. On the final day of testing, the man from Paraná set the third fastest time in the morning session and finished tenth overall at the end of the second practice period, when more riders took the lead. track.

During test days, Aston Martin avoided giving details of Stroll’s injury and said it was working to prepare him to race, with Drugovich on “standby” in case a replacement was needed. After being confirmed at the Bahrain GP, ​​Stroll said he was frustrated that he didn’t compete in pre-season.
