Reigning Formula 2 champion and reserve driver for Aston Martin, Drugovich replaced Stroll and took turns in the sessions with Alonso. During test days, Aston Martin avoided giving details of Stroll’s injury and said it was working to prepare him to race, with Drugovich on “standby” in case a replacement was needed. After being confirmed at the Bahrain GP, Stroll said he was frustrated that he didn’t compete in pre-season.
