McCain do Brasil, a subsidiary of Canada’s world leader in the sale of frozen pre-fried potatoes, has signed an agreement to take control of the mining company Forno de Minas, famous for its cheese bread.

With the operation, already communicated to Cade, the founders of Forno de Minas will leave the company, founded in 1990 by the family in Belo Horizonte.

At the same time, McCain now owns 100% of Srya, also a manufacturer of frozen fries, whose share of shares was held by Forno de Minas.

For the Canadian group, the transaction should consolidate its presence in Brazil and expand its portfolio, currently focused on potatoes, frozen pizzas and onion rings.

In the country, McCain’s main competitor in frozen pre-fried potatoes is Bem Brasil from Minas Gerais.

Sales at these businesses surged during the pandemic, when people were forced to cook at home and rushed to buy appliances like air fryers.
