Max Verstappen won with extreme control the Canadian GP. This Sunday (18), the Dutchman dominated and also triumphed on the dry track, after an overwhelming performance in the wet classification of montreal. It was Max’s 41st career win, bringing him closer to Ayrton Sene on the list of triumphs in the history of the category. It was also the 100th number one Red Bull To F1the league’s fifth most successful team of all time.
The Canadian podium was absolutely stellar. In addition to Verstappen, legends also leave Montreal with trophies Fernando Alonsowith brake trouble and everything, and Lewis Hamiltonwho come out of the fight for second place alive.
A Ferrarimiraculously, the strategy was right in the vein and saved weekends for its two drivers. Charles Leclerc came fourth with carlos sainzclose to the Monegasque throughout the race, in fifth. Sergio Perez he did next to nothing, but finished sixth in tactics and race interruptions. The Mexican still achieves the fastest lap of the day.
Alex Albon, the stellar weekend, put the williams in seventh place, followed by Esteban Ocon, collect some extra points. Lando Norrispunished, was 13th, behind Spear Stroll – who passed Valtteri Bottas at the finish line -, Oscar Piastri It is Pierre Gasly.
In this context, the GRAND PRIZE highlights five things we learned in the eighth step of F1 2023, in Canada:
Verstappen and the records: it’s the dispute for 2023
Let’s tell the truth here, shall we? Verstappen’s dispute in the F1 2023 is against itself and against the historic brands of category legends. The Dutchman has everything to be three consecutive champions and, without exaggeration, even to win all the remaining races in the year. The guy is absurd, the RB19 is phenomenal and there’s just no one around him. Another great show in Canada, even radio jokes happened.
Hamilton and Alonso on the podium indicate that the fight for vice exists
If Verstappen isn’t fighting anyone under him, things start to get hot. Largely because of Pérez’s inefficiency, which we’ll talk about next, but also because Grandpa Alonso and Hamilton want to play! Both were on the podium again, put in great performances and have interesting cars. If Aston Martin and Mercedes help at all, the duo can and even should rule out the Mexican. And then it turns into a duel for vice.
Pérez is embarrassed again. And still complain about the lack of rhythm
Well, the fight between Hamilton and Alonso is not officially for third place as Pérez has decided to turn the curve on disaster. There are three races in a row for the Mexican out of Q3 and the podium. And then there’s always that powder, right? Checo saying Red Bull lacks pace. Hey? It’s not very easy to defend the guy, no.
Ferrari hit a tactic in vein. This is not a simulation
Yes, Ferrari nailed not one but two strategies in the same race. It’s true that the accidents helped, but everything went wonderfully well for the Italians, the plans went well. After the utter horror of the leaderboard, two top-5s came out of excellent size. And the car drove well again, round.
Albon, what a man! Highlight a ‘F1 B’assanhada in Canada
A ‘F1 B’ has been making jokes in the Canadian GP since Saturday, but, in the end, who was in front of the crowd was Alex Albon. The man shone, ignored the fact that Williams had a bad car and took a crucial 6 points. He brought Williams alive in the championship, holding on to Alfa Romeo, Haas and overtaking AlphaTauri. Carry the team on your back since you’ve been there!
