The list of top Brazilian scorers includes young names, former Ballon d’Or players and players little known to Brazilian fans

Major League Soccer has been the destination for Brazilian players, whether youngsters rising from the Brazilian youth ranks or even seasoned athletes returning from European, Asian and similar football looking for one last chance in their career in a structured league that pays well. .

The MLS territory has decided to separate a list with the Brazilians who have scored the most goals in MLS, the first in the list will surprise you.

Rodrigue Faria

Rodrigo Faria emerged in MLS as a talent to watch but ended up cutting his career short to help his family with their business. With stints with MetroStars (current New York Red Bulls), Chicago Fire and San Jose Earthquakes where he was MLS Cup champion. Rodrigo was even voted MLS’s best young player in the 2001 season and despite his short career, with his 24 goals scored, he ranks sixth on the list.

kaka

The only Ballon d’Or winner to have played in MLS, midfielder Kaká is also sixth on the list. Kaká only played three seasons but still had a big impact in the league, Brazilian Bola de Ouro 2007, totaling 46 goal appearances in 75 games, with 24 goals and 22 assists.

Philip Martins

Felipe Martins reaches 300 appearances in MLS and becomes the Brazilian with the most appearances in league history

Then we have the experienced Felipe Martins, currently at Orlando City, with 26 goals scored. Felipe is the Brazilian with the most games played in MLS and has already played for teams such as: Montreal Impact, New York Red Bulls, Vancouver Whitecaps FC, DC United and Austin FC. He won the 2015 Supporters’ Shield with the New York Red Bulls and was also a two-time Canadian Championship champion (2013 and 2014) with Montreal.

Brenner

With only three years in MLS, young striker Brenner already ranks fourth with 27 goals scored. Already sold by FC Cincinnati to Udinense / ITA, the Brenner should remain in the league until the middle of this year when the transfer window reopens. Note that 18 of the Brenner’s 27 goals were scored during the 2022 season.

Camilo Sanvezzo

Luciano Emilio

One of the most decorated Brazilians in MLS, Luciano Emílio sits second in the table with 41 goals scored. Acting only for DC United, Luciano was Supporter’s Shield 2007 and US Open Cup 2008, 2007 being his best season in the league, where the Brazilian won the awards of: MVP, Golden Boot, Newcomer of the Year in addition to appearing in the ideal team of the 2007 season.

Welton Araujo

Without much recognition in Brazilian football, but with stints in big clubs like Fluminense and Flamengo, Wélton Araújo is the Brazilian with the most goals scored in MLS, there are 43 goals scored by the striker who defended the colors from New England Revolution, LA Galaxy, Miami Fusion, Pittsburgh and Seattle Sounders. Note that Welton was the first Brazilian to play in MLS.
