The Brazilian wheelchair rugby team is gathered at the Paralympic Training Center, in São Paulo, until this Saturday 13.

“My main goal here in Brazil is to learn and absorb the best that the Brazilian team has to offer,” said Augustin, 30, who has been playing rugby for five years.

“What impressed me the most was the dedication of the Brazilian players in training. They always give their best,” continued the Uruguayan player, who also underwent physical tests and praised the structure of the Brazilian Paralympic CT.

For Ricardo Tanhoffer, high performance coordinator of the Brazilian Wheelchair Rugby Association (ABRC), the exchange is important for both countries and meets one of the objectives of the CARL: to contribute to the growth of the sport in as a whole, in South America.

“In the case of our Uruguayan friends, the athletes and the coach have the opportunity to train with the champions of the continent, learning from us and teaching us as well”.

Also according to the coordinator, the exchange generates a differentiated degree of difficulty and raises the level of demand in Brazilian training. Next July, the ABRC intends to carry out a similar action with four Dutch players.

On this week’s program, the Brazilian and Uruguayan athletes will train daily and benefit from the support of the CARL team of professionals, which includes a doctor, physiotherapist, physiologist, nurse, nutritionist and psychologist.
