Anyone who wants to visit the exhibition with works by the Spaniard Jaume Plensa “Invisible and unspeakable”, at the Oscar Niemeyer Museum (MON), must hurry: the exhibition ends this Sunday (14), with the last entry at 5.30 p.m. . and stay until 6 p.m.
The exhibition, curated by Marcello Dantas, includes 17 works by Plensa, an artist recognized worldwide for his large-scale creations and installations in public spaces. “Invisível e Indizível” brings together for the first time “Silent Hortense” and “Invisible Rui Rui”, two pieces more than seven meters high and with particular personalities. The first refers to the impossibility of expressing feelings, while the second calls for silence.
Plensa’s works are the result of the sculpture-context equation and generate a reflexive impact on the public. “The small distortions and imperfections present in his sculptures incite a more intuitive connection in the viewer, in which similarities overlap differences,” explains the curator.
Jaume Plensa
The artist was born in 1955 in Barcelona, Spain, where he still lives today. His works have already been exhibited in Spain, France, Japan, England, Korea, Germany, Canada, United States, Brazil, among others. With a career spanning over 40 years, he is a prominent name among visual artists of his generation and has received several international awards. The opposition between materiality and immateriality is one of the characteristics of his production, which involves materials such as glass, steel, bronze, or even water, light and sound.
