Voting will only resume if Minister Nunes Marques protests
The Minister Cassio Nunes Brandsof the Federal Court (stf), was elected to fill one of the three vacancies to which the Supreme Court is entitled within the plenary assembly of the Superior Electoral Tribunal (EAST). The result on the choice of Marques was announced by the president of the STF, Rosa Weber, this Wednesday 17. Ricardo Lewandowski, retired in April of this year. With the designation, Marques will begin analyzing judgments relevant to electoral justice at the national level. In addition to three STF ministers, the TSE plenary includes three Superior Court of Justice (STJ) ministers and two Supreme Court-appointed attorneys. He will work alongside his colleagues Cármen Lúcia and Alexandre de Moraes.
Nunes Marques was the prime minister appointed by former President Jair Bolsonaro to the STF. Born in Teresina (PI), he holds a law degree from the Federal University of Piauí (UFPI) and a master’s degree in law from the Autonomous University of Lisbon, Portugal. He has worked as a lawyer and was a judge of the TRE of Piauí. He was also a judge at the Federal Regional Court (TRF) of the 1st Region, based in Brasilia (DF).
