Tatiana Weston-Webb won the title of the ISA Games (World Surfing Games), this Wednesday (7) at the beach of Surf City, El Salvador. The Brazilian added a total of 15.00 points in the final round to overcome Canadian Erin Brooks (silver with 14.36 points) and Frenchmen Johanne Defay (bronze with 13.54 points) and Vahiné Fierro (fourth spot with 12.30 points).
Winning the title of the competition, promoted by the International Surfing Association (ISA), guaranteed the Brazilian surfer a place in the 2023 edition of the Pan American Games, to be held in October in Santiago (Chile).
In addition, participation in the 2023 and 2024 editions of the ISA World Surfing Games is one of the eligibility criteria for surfer athletes to participate in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania.
However, qualifying for the Olympics was not a concern for Tatiana Weston-Webb, who had her place confirmed by the International Surfing Association in April this year.
In the waves of Teahupo’o (Tahiti), the 27-year-old athlete will represent Brazil for the second time in an edition of the Olympic Games. She participated in the beginnings of surfing in the sports mega-event program in Japan.
