Soteldo has been fasting for 14 months without scoring a goal

Attacking midfielder Soteldo is having an uncomfortable fast in his career. Less than a month from the end of his loan to Santos, the Venezuelan is far from having fun and has not scored a single goal for more than a year, more precisely 14 months.

The last goal scored by Soteldo dates back to April 10, 2022. On the occasion, the player scored the goal that gave Tigres, Mexico, victory over Querétaro, for the Mexican Championship.

Since then, the shorty has made nine appearances for Tigres and 21 for Santos, including 14 this season. He still hasn’t scored a goal since his return to Peixe but has made three assists in 2024.

Soteldo’s numbers for Santos have dropped compared to the athlete’s first stint at the club. Between 2019 and 2021, the attacking midfielder has scored 20 times in a total of 104 games. Sold to Toronto FC, the Venezuelan scored only four goals for the Canadian team.

Soteldo is on loan at the Vila Belmiro side until July 3 this year. The contract contains a definitive purchase clause, set at the value of 4 million dollars (nearly 20 million reais at current quotations).

However, since returning to the Santos team, the player has struggled to score a game streak. He has already suffered three injuries during this period, two muscular and one in the shoulder. For this reason, the Santos board is cautious on the subject.

In all, there are 21 appearances and four assists in almost ten months defending Santos. Soteldo will only be able to improve his numbers after the break for Data Fifa, when Peixe will face rivals Corinthians, for the Brazilian league.

The classic is scheduled for June 21, at 8 p.m. (Brasília time), in Vila Belmiro, for the 11th round of the competition. Santos are eight games without a win, with five draws and three defeats, in addition to two eliminations (Copa do Brasil and Sudamericana).
