Rio extends flu vaccination campaign for people aged six months and over – Rio de Janeiro City Hall

The flu vaccination campaign has been extended – Arquivo/Rio City Hall

The Municipal Health Secretariat (SMS) has extended the flu vaccination campaign in the municipality of Rio, which would end on Wednesday (05/31). Anyone six months or older can be vaccinated. The objective is to broaden the coverage of the population and, mainly, of priority groups, due to the seasonality of respiratory diseases, which are more frequent in winter. It is essential that people seek out a health unit as soon as possible to get their flu shot. The vaccine prevents serious cases and complications resulting from the flu, especially in children and the elderly.

The flu shot is available at all 237 primary care units (family clinics and municipal health centers), Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Units that operate with extended hours and Saturdays can be viewed at platform where to be served. The vaccine is also available at the Super Centro Carioca de Vacinação, in Botafogo, which is open Sunday to Sunday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and also has a drive-thru; and at additional points around the city, which can be viewed in this link.
