Fibromyalgia patients residing in the city of Rio de Janeiro can now request the identification card for people with fibromyalgia (CIPFIBRO). The document guarantees access to special rights and began to be issued by the Municipal Health Service this Monday (05/22). The request can be made by Minhasaude.rio portal. CIPFIBRO will be available in two versions: digital and physical, and the file can be downloaded and printed directly from the website.
The Identification Card for People with Fibromyalgia was instituted by Law No. 7,231/2022 and regulated by Rio Decree No. 52,229 of March 22 of this year. It is intended to identify the person diagnosed with the disease, in order to facilitate, as a person with special rights, preferential care in direct and indirect public administrations, as well as in private institutions.
To obtain the CIFIBRO, the patient or his legal representative must register at the myhealth.rio, complete the online form, attach the digital copies (scanned or photographed file) of the RG, the proof of address and the report specific to fibromyalgia (CIM 10 M 79), which can be issued by a doctor from the public or private networks . It is also necessary to send a 3×4 photo of the patient through the system. The documentation analysis period is 15 days and, if everything is correct, the portfolio will be made available on the website. It is valid for five years and must be renewed after this period.
Fibromyalgia is a rheumatological disease that affects the musculature causing pain, being more common in women. Because it is a syndrome, it can also be associated with other symptoms, such as fatigue, trouble sleeping, bowel problems, depression, and anxiety. The disease is estimated to affect approximately 2% of the world’s population.
