The first image of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in ‘Deadpool 3’ was released on Monday (10).
In a video posted to Reynolds’ Twitter profile, the Canadian actor got a whirlwind appearance from the Australian, who played the mutant hero for 17 years in theaters.
Ryan Reynolds Announces ‘Deadpool 3’ Will Star Hugh Jackman as Wolverine
In the tweet, Reynolds says he’s been running out of ideas for the Marvel Comics Mercenary’s third film, the character’s first production to be inserted into the publisher’s Cinematic Universe.
That’s until Jackman fades into the background and the Canadian asks if the Aussie doesn’t want to play Wolverine anymore. “Yes, of course, Ryan,” replies the other.
In the tweet, the interpreter of Deadpool still jokes about his first appearance as an anti-hero. “Hard to shut up about this one,” the actor wrote, referring to the character’s fate in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” (2009).
After a disastrous start on his colleague’s film, Reynolds was given two new chances with his own films – the last in 2018.
Both were huge successes for studio Fox, which has since been acquired by Disney, allowing its movie characters to be reintegrated into the unique Marvel Universe.
Jackman took on the role of Wolverine in 2000 and starred in eight films before stepping down from the character in 2017.
