Embratur wants to expand foreign presence in the Northeast

The partnership between Embratur and Consórcio Nordeste aims to develop actions to promote the attractions of the Northeast region abroad.

The Brazilian Agency for the Promotion of International Tourism (doorway) has entered into a partnership with the Thematic Chamber of Tourism of the North-East Consortium to develop actions to promote the region’s attractions Northeast abroad.

According to the president of the Agency, Marcelo Freixo, the idea is to develop promotional campaigns for the Northeast on an international scale, in addition to developing actions that can improve the air network and international connections in the region, in order to increase the number of foreign travelers to the country.

“We want more airlines to serve the northeast, improving connectivity and promoting the region as a whole as a destination that values ​​Brazil,” Freixo revealed.

The meeting, held in Brasília (DF) this Wednesday (12), brought together Freixo and the tourism secretaries of nine northeastern states that are members of the Consortium Nordeste: Alagoas, Bahia, Ceará, Maranhão, Paraíba, Pernambuco , Piauí, Rio Grande do Norte and Sergipe. The federal deputy Natália Bonavides and the directors, managers and coordinators of Embratur were also present.

The meeting ended with the signing of a memorandum of understanding in which the parties undertake to continue the action plan aimed at strengthening the presence of foreigners in the region.
