Kelvin Hoefler was the star of Brazilian skateboarding at the X-Games California. In the street final played this Sunday (23), the Brazilian obtained the second position, taking silver, repeating the medal won at X-Games Japan this year.
Kelvin only got the silver on his last run, when he clocked 90.66, behind only Japan’s Yuto Horigome, who clocked 95.66 on the second run. Canadian Ryan Decenzo completes the podium. Another Brazilian in the men’s street decision was Giovani Viana, who finished sixth with a score of 75.33
Pedro Barros almost grabbed a podium at the men’s Park, which finished fourth in the final played on Saturday (22). The Olympic medalist posted an 84.00 on his first run, 1.33 behind Tom Schaar of the United States, who won bronze. Who got gold was another American, Jagger Eaton with the score of 92.00
Other Brazilian finalists couldn’t get that close to the podium. Raicca Ventura qualified for the women’s park final and finished sixth with a score of 78.66 – the title went to 13-year-old Australian Arisa Trew. In the women’s competition, Letícia Bufoni finished eighth with 60.33 – the gold medal also went to Australian Chloe Covell, aged just 13.
Brazil won two more medals in non-Olympic skate competitions with youngster Gui Khury, just 14 years old. He won silver at Megapark – the famous Megaramp – and gold at Vert Best Trick – best maneuver on a vertical track.
