The 2023 “Test of the Million” maintains a high competitive level

The disputed world championship of PRCA – Professional Association of Rodeo Cowboys continues to conclude his regular season and Brazilian rope access technician Junior Nogueira remains at the top of the Team Roping world rankings.

Last week, he had already reached second place for his successes in four rodeos during the first two weeks of August. Today, just over six thousand dollars more puts him at the top of the world ranking of stonemasons. Junior Nogueira’s total is $133,494.97 to Levi Lord’s $131,733.82.

Since moving to live and compete in the United States, consistency has been the hallmark of the Brazilian rope access worker. Junior Nogueira has appeared in every World Final in Las Vegas since 2014 and is now on his tenth appearance. In PRCA alone, he has three championship titles, four runners-up, records and several important victories.

Achievements of Junior Nogueira in August

In early August, Junior Nogueira achieved good results in four rodeos, increasing his earnings. It is always good to remember that in PRCA, the general classification is measured by the money earned in the stages scored by the competitors.

Alongside his partner, chef Kaleb Driggers, Junior Nogueira placed 9th in the War Bonnet Round Up, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, 6s4 ($905); was Farm-City Pro Rodeo champion, in Hermiston, Oregon, 10s ($4,373) and still won the first round, 4s3 ($2,916).

Juninho and Kaleb also finished 8th at the Lea County PRCA Rodeo in Lovington, NM, 13.6 ($324), earning a second-round victory, 4s ($2,321), tied with Tyler Wade/Wesley Thorp. Closes as champion at Summit County Fair & Rodeo in Coalville, Utah, 4.1 ($2,686).

Top of the standings in Laço Pé came with a second-round win at the famed Caldwell Night Rodeo in Caldwell, Idaho, 4s6 ($3,636). And fourth place, tied with Pace Freed/Cole Wilson and Rhen Richard/Jeremy Buhler, 4s3 ($2,836), at the Gooding Pro Rodeo in Gooding, Idaho.

Another Brazilian rope access technician present on the world circuit, Marcos Alan Costa, in Tie-Down Roping, recovered some positions with the results of the beginning of August. Last week, it was down to 17th position (US$76,416.43), but currently with US$82,091.48, it is in 18th place in the modalities ranking.

The 2017 world champion is looking to break into the top 15 by September and to do that his travel and rodeo schedule will ramp up even further.

After finishing second at the Dodge City Roundup Rodeo, in Dodge City, Kansas, 7s7 ($3,060), tied with Randall Carlisle, Marquinhos also finished second at the Lawton Rangers Rodeo, in Lawton, Oklahoma, 17s6 ($2,288) , right to second best. time in both rounds – 8s5 ($1,525) and 9s1, tied with Hagen Houck ($1,411).

The Brazilian, who collects titles in the United States, also scored at the Lea County PRCA Rodeo in Lovington, New Mexico. He finished sixth in the average, 20s ($1,566), with the right to finish third in the first round, 8s9 ($2,219). The PRCA regular season ends on September 30. After that date, the top 15 in the world rankings in each discipline will be seeded for the big decision, the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas in December.
