A NASCAR Brazil sprint race organized the first of three races on the Velocitta, valid for the sixth stage of 2023 and the second and decisive round of the special edition.
Paul Tracyone of the main attractions of the weekend, shone from its beginnings, having exceeded Leo Torres while running and hold Jorge Martelliwhich put pressure on him in the final laps.
Despite P2 overall, Martelli won for PROAM. Alex Seid finished third. In AM, victory went to MC Gui.
The race
Gui Backes was on pole position for Race 1, with Jorge Martelli alongside him. But Léo Torres took the lead on the first lap. Still on the first lap, the safety car was activated after Celso Neto, Beto Monteiro’s teammate, stopped on track.
Paul Tracy, who started fourth, gained a place.
On the restart, the Canadian took second place, putting pressure on Torres to take the lead. Rafa Dias, who started 10th, was already third with nine minutes remaining.
In less than eight minutes, Tracy maneuvered for the lead, but hit Léo Torres, sending the No. 1 car into the pits.
So, Tracy took the lead, with Martelli in second and Alex Seid in third.
The Canadian star began to establish a streak of fastest laps in racing and took his first victory in NASCAR Brazil, with Martelli in second, but taking the win in PROAM and Seid in third. MC Gui was the winner in the AM category.
