Bia plays on center court, Iga and Sabaleka make their debuts

Bia plays the second match of the schedule and faces Leylah Fernandez

Montreal Canada) – After having won his first match At the WTA 1000 in Montreal, Beatriz Haddad Maia returns to action this Wednesday and will have the opportunity to play on the main court of the tournament. The Brazilian number 1 and 12th in the world faces the Canadian Leylah Fernandez, formerly in the top 20 and currently 81st in the ranking.

Bia and Fernandez faced each other twice last year, the Canadian got the better of her in Monterrey, then Bia took her revenge in Toronto. This match will be the third on the schedule at the Montreal stadium.

The round begins at 1:30 p.m. (Brasilia time) with the match between world number 1 Iga Swiatek and former ranking leader Karolina Pliskova. The Pole gained the upper hand in the two previous duels. In sequence, Elena Rybakina and Jennifer Brady resume suspended match by the rain.
