After putting on one of the best shows at Rock in Rio 2019, HER showed that he was still in good shape by performing this Sunday (10) at The Town. The 26-year-old Californian singer played her renewed R&B in front of fans who were waiting for Bruno Mars.
Few of them showed signs of knowing the repertoire, but they were still swaying to the grooves and rhythms. The goodwill of the audience is such that they applaud and even sing the chorus of “Hard Place”.

Gabriella Wilson, the artist’s real name, represents the new generation of this genre that appeared in the 1940s with influences such as jazz and church choirs. HER is the acronym for “Having Everything Revealed”. It’s also a way of trying to protect your identity. This is also why he almost always wears sunglasses.
“It’s my first time in São Paulo and I love the food and the people,” he says again at the beginning. “Brazil is my favorite country in the world. You make me feel so comfortable.”
Winner of an Oscar and five Grammys, she remains supported by a wall of sound: a complete and cutting-edge group. In addition to singing, she alternates between piano, guitar, guitar and drums.
The sound mixes the aforementioned R&B with reggae, electronic pop and even bossa nova. She previously told g1 that the sound of artists like João Gilberto “opened up her perspectives” as a singer and instrumentalist. “I love Brazilian music,” she said in Portuguese during the show.
HER only has one official album: “Back of my mind”, from 2021. The show is therefore supplemented by covers and songs sung with her from the albums of other artists. Among these, “Best Part” (with Canadian Daniel Caeser) stands out.
No song was sung by the audience as much as this one. The version has two surprises: it features singer Felipe Bide, known for his covers on YouTube; and hums with him an excerpt from “Quero meets you”, by Claudinho & Buchecha.
Revealed on a Disney reality show, when she was only 14 years old and only singing covers, Gabrielle showed herself as a performer by singing “Are You Gonna Go My Way”, by Lenny Kravitz. The crowd’s highlight, however, was the double of Joan Jett’s famous “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll” and Queen’s “We Will Rock You.” It’s a cliché, but in his voice, it didn’t sound so familiar.
