The world records set by the Swede Armand Duplantis and the Ethiopian Gudaf Tsegay were the highlights of the second day of the Eugene (USA) stage of the Diamond Athletics League, which ended this Sunday (17).

Dominant in the men’s pole vault, Duplantis exceeded the 6.23 m mark on his first attempt, winning the diamond for the 2023 season. It was the second of the Swede’s career. Below, the historic jump:

In the other men’s events, Australian Matthew Denny won the discus throw, Swiss Simon Ehammer won the long jump, Kenyan Emmanuel Wanyonyi won the 800m, Norwegian Jakob Ingerbrigtsen won the 3000m, Jamaican Hansle Parchment won the 110 hurdles, American Joe Kovacs was the best. best in shot put and Canadian André de Grasse won the 200m.

The other world record of the day was held by Tsegay in the 5000m, with a time of 14:00.21, lowering by 5 seconds the record held by Kenyan Faith Kipyegon since July.
