Of the thirteen Brazilian boxers present in the competition, three of them are starting in the quarter-finals and would need two victories to obtain an Olympic place: Keno Marley Machado in the men’s 92 kg category, Abner Teixeiramedalist in Tokyo 2020in the +92kg category and Barbara Santos at 66 kg.
The 2023 Pan American Games represent the only championship on the continent that allocates Olympic berths for boxing at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. There are two berths per weight class, with the exception of women’s 57kg and 60kg, which will grant four quotas. That is, for most athletes it is necessary to reach the final.
After the Pan, Brazilians who do not get a ranking in their weight categories will have two more attempts at the world qualifying tournaments, which are expected to take place in the first half of 2024 and will distribute the remaining places.
