North East residents compete for six medals on Wednesday

We arrived on the 5th day of Pan American Games and the agenda of NE45 brings everything that is reserved for the 68 inhabitants of the northeast of Santiago 2023 this Wednesday (25). The star of the day is the boxer from Bahia Bia Ferreirawho fights in the boxing quarterfinals to guarantee a medal.

The day will also be marked by farewells to swimming, with the Bahians Guilherme Caribeowner of three diamonds, and Celine Bispo, with a gold and a bronze medal, jumping into the pool for the last time. And it’s also the day of the badminton final, with the native of Piauí Fabrice Farias play for gold.

To date, the region has won seven gold medals and five bronze medals at the Pan American Games. On Tuesday, there were four medals: Breno Correia (swimming – men’s 4x200m freestyle) and Edival Pontes It is Paulo Ricardo Melo (taekwondo – men’s teams) and bronzes in badminton doubles, with Sania Lima (mixed and female) and Juliana Vieira (female). Added to this are victories in surfing, tennis, beach volleyball, badminton, handball and boxing.

8am – Longboard Surfing 🏅 – Carlos Bahia (BA)

After leading his battery on the first day, the Bahian Carlos Bahia arrives for the 2nd phase of longboard surfing (with bigger boards). He takes part in the first round of the day, against the Chilean Rafael Cortéz and the Argentinian Martín Perez.

The day includes a few extra stops for longboarding. At 12:36 p.m., the repechage takes place for those eliminated in the 2nd phase. Then, the 3rd phase takes place with series at 3:40 p.m. and 4:03 p.m. (and victory already guarantees a medal). And we’ll have two more recaps to close out the day, at 5:58 p.m. and 6:18 p.m.

9:30 a.m. – Field hockey – Brazil x Canada

For the debut of field hockey, the Brazilian men’s team (35th in the world ranking), which includes the native of Pernambuco Stéphane Vehrle-Smith plays against Canada (#17).

9:30 a.m. – Sport shooting – Daiana Camaz (AL)

In the dispute for the Olympic pit, the woman of Alagoas Diane Camaz marks the first day of ranking for the Olympic pit this Wednesday. The fight for a place in the final continues on Thursday.

After competing in the 1m springboard and 3m springboard, the woman from Paraíba Luana Read bids farewell to the Pan American Games in synchronized jumps on the 3m springboard, alongside Anna Lúcia dos Santos from Brasilia. They enter directly into the final.
