Between October 27 and 29, 2023, in Vancouver, Canada, the second of six stages of the Figure Skating Skate America. Skaters earn points based on their final position and the top six qualify for the final round, which will take place December 7-10, 2023 in Beijing, China.
We had individual men’s and women’s categories, couples and ice dancing. No Brazilians were present in any of them.
In the category singles gentlemen the champion was the Japanese Sota Yamamoto with 258.42 points, closely followed by his compatriot Kao Miura and his 257.89 points. Italian Matteo Rizzo scored 246.01 and came third. A total of 12 skaters performed.
In the category ladies singles the winner was also Japanese. Kaori Sakamoto left her opponents no chance by scoring 226.13 points. South Korea’s Chaeyeon Kim finished second with 201.15 points and Japan’s Rino Matsuike completed the all-Asian podium with 198.62 points. As with the men, a total of 12 skaters performed.
We pairs there were 8 pairs competing. The Canadian duo formed by Deanna Stellato-Dudek/Maxime Deschamps won by scoring 214.64 points, well above the others. Hungarians Maria Pavlova/Alexei Sviatchenko scored 187.78 points and finished second, while Italians Lucrezia Beccari/Matteo Guarise finished third with 181.42 points.
Finally, in ice dancing 10 duos competed against each other. And with 219.01 points, the Canadians and hosts Piper Gilles/Paul Poirier became champions. Britons Lilah Fear/Lewis Gibson finished second with 209.55 points and Lithuanians Allison Reed/Saulius Ambrulevicius with 192.01 completed the podium.
