Actor Kayky Brito was crushed in the early hours of Saturday (2) and is admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Copa d’Or Hospital, in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro. Find out below what we already know about the accident, Kayky’s state of health and the statements of his family and friends.

The actor was crossing the street when he was hit by an app driver’s vehicle. The driver stopped and rendered assistance, waiting for the police and firefighters to arrive. The man was then taken to the 16th Police Station in Barra da Tijuca to provide clarification.

At the police station, the driver said Kayky suddenly ran across the road. The man also reported that he tried to avoid the actor by throwing the car into the right lane, but was unable to avoid the collision.

From the police station, the driver went to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) to take an alcohol test, which showed negative for ingestion of alcoholic beverages or any substance with a similar effect. According to the report, he was lucid, attentive, presented coherent speech and wore neat clothing.

According to delegate Ângelo José Lages Machado, the man was charged with bodily injury on the road. The next step in the investigation is to determine whether the car was traveling at a high speed or not..

First aid and diagnosis

Kayky was rescued by firefighters and taken to the Miguel Couto municipal hospital in Leblon, south of Rio de Janeiro. Before being taken by the military, Kayky had difficulty breathing.

Once at the hospital, the actor was admitted to the Intensive Therapy Center (CTI) and his state of health was considered very serious. He suffered multiple trauma and head trauma.

Multiple body trauma, also called polytrauma, is a serious injury to two or more organs or two different parts of the body caused by either a collision or a burn.

At the Miguel Couto Municipal Hospital, the actor received first aid and was stabilized, sedated and intubated. Initial examinations showed that, despite multiple fractures throughout his body, his spine was preserved.

Also on Saturday afternoon, the actor was transferred from the Miguel Couto Municipal Hospital to the Copa D’Or Hospital, a private care unit in Copacabana, in the southern zone of the capital Rio de Janeiro.

At night, Copa D’Or issued a bulletin informing that Kayky is admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU), under sedation and mechanical ventilation. The head trauma is what most worries the doctors following his case.. The actor’s condition is stable, but his case is considered very serious.

Thanks to social networks, Sthefany confessed her fear of losing her mother and stepfather and said Sandra had to have spleen surgery and had been admitted to intensive care.

“For the first time in my life, I found myself faced with a situation where I could have lost my parents! My parents, for me eternal! We know that one day they will leave, in fact that is the only certainty that we have in this life, but when that possibility disappears, the panic, the despair and the lack of preparation that invaded me became visible!”, declared the actress.

She told how the accident happened. “They had a car accident, a car going the wrong way hit their head… total loss! What they are talking about, I can’t even imagine it in my worst nightmares! She was screaming in pain while lying down on the road, he panics with fear of being crushed again while trying to make her conscious, because in such pain she almost fainted. Ambulance! Scream! Pain! Despair!

“Come back, in your time! But come back! We made an agreement: you stay calm and strong, and we here will spare no effort for your recovery,” the actress wrote.
