The Brazilian women’s football team will begin this Saturday (6) in search of the unprecedented title of the SheBelieves Tournament, in Atlanta (United States). The debut will take place against Canada, at 4 p.m. (Brasilia time), at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The competition, which also brings together Japan and the United States, will be the last before the Paris Olympics.
The one who can’t wait to get on the hopscotch field is goalkeeper Lorena, back in the team after a year of absence from the field, due to the rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee.
Coach Arthur Elias led this Friday (5) the last training session of Brazil before his debut at SheBelieves, whose teams are all qualified for Paris 2024. Elias made his debut with the national team, precisely against the Canada, in the first of two friendly matches in October. The Brazilians won 1-0 in the first match and lost the next match 2-0.
If they win over the Canadians on Saturday, the Brazilians will compete for the title against the winner of the Japan x United States duel, who will enter the field before the selection: at 1:30 p.m., in the same Atlanta stadium. The final will take place next Tuesday (9), at a place and time to be defined.
Initially with six matches, SheBelieves will only have two semi-finals and the final this year, due to the recently concluded Gold Cup promoted by Concacaf. Brazil competed as guests and finished second, after being beaten by the United States 1–0 in the final.
