Canada ranks highly in world rankings in several categories, including maple syrup and public health. Today, with the release of Shanghai Ranking’s 2019 Academic Ranking of World Universities, the country continues to stand out in the education sector, with 9 universities ranked among the top 200 in the world.
The Academic Ranking of World Universities, which has recognized the quality of teaching in educational institutions since 2003, recently analyzed more than 1,800 universities around the world and created a list of the top 1,000 universities in the world.
Four Canadian universities made the top 100, with the University of Toronto ranking first. position in Canada and 24th. in global rankings — which probably comes as no surprise to Canadians, as it’s quite common for the University of Toronto to rank at the top of education rankings, even after already being considered the top most famous university by Maclean’s magazine in 2018.
Although the University of Toronto is generally recognized as one of the best in the world on several occasions, three other Canadian universities also managed to place themselves on the map, all ranked in the top 100, just below the University of Toronto.
Considered the 2nd. best in Canada and 35th. of the world, the University of British Columbia has positioned itself as one of the best institutions in the world to obtain a degree.
Furthermore McGill Universityin Montreal QC, and the McMaster Universitylocated in Hamilton, Ontario, have also earned their place among the top 100 universities in the world.
But Canadian universities weren’t just among the top 100. Among the 1,800 institutions considered, 28 Canadian universities appeared on the list.
A University of CalgaryTHE Montreal universityTHE University of Ottawa and the University of Waterloo also entered the ranking, in the top 200.
A Ryerson University was last on the list of Canadian universities, ranked among the top 900 universities in the world.
