The Canadian airline will include its code on flights operated by the Brazilian airline.
Companies are still negotiating to offer mileage accrual and redemption.
Gol airline has extended its current agreement with Air Canada to the flight sharing model, continuing the company’s strategy to increase its presence in international markets, it reported on Wednesday (11).
The sharing agreement will initially allow Air Canada to include its code on flights operated by Gol, thus offering its customers greater connection possibilities. Later, Gol will also be able to insert its code on partner flights.
The companies are still negotiating an agreement to offer mileage accrual and redemption through Air Canada’s Gol, Smiles and Aeroplan loyalty programs.
The partnership still requires the agreement of the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) and the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade).
Flight sharing allows a flight operated by only one airline to receive the code of the partner airline, while the interline model only allows passengers to book flights with different partner airlines for a route not served by a single airline.
This year, Gol also signed a flight-sharing agreement with South Korean airline Korean Air and resumed an agreement on this model with Panamanian airline Copa Airlines.
