A “fight” between the Brazilian Ana Patrícia and the Canadian Brandie Wilkerson marked the final of the women’s beach volleyball at the Paris Olympic Games, Friday (19). This unusual moment went viral on social networks and gave rise to numerous discussions.
The match was 11 x 8 for the Brazilians, when the referee scored a point for Canada and came back to correct it and give it to Brazil. Ana Patrícia was irritated by the Canadian celebration and approached the net to charge at Brandie, who didn’t let up either.

A few moments before the match resumed, the DJ on the Eiffel Tower court got into the mood and, to relax, put on Imagine, by John Lennon, to play.
After the match and the gold medal won, Ana Patrícia commented on the confusion that surrounded the Canadian
“It was a play situation. She screamed first, I felt really uncomfortable. I repeated what she did, which made her angry. Eventually the situation got a little out of control. But after the song, it worked (laughs). Everyone laughed, the girls laughed, that’s all the guys. It’s a game, it happens. After the match, it was peace and love again. We really wanted to win,” he said.
The victory gave Brazil its eighth medal in women’s beach volleyball at the Olympics. Canada won silver and Switzerland took bronze.
