Kyrgios returns to the top 30 after a year and a half

Miami (USA) – The good season of Australian Nick Kyrgios earned him good places in the standings every week. Eliminated in the quarterfinals at the Masters 1000 in Montreal by Pole Hubert Hurkacz, who then took second place, he gained nine positions and returned to the top 30 after a year and a half, rising to the current 28th place .

Kyrgios hasn’t looked so well placed since February 2020. The new position in the ATP will help the Australian at the US Open as he is now in the seeded bracket and thus avoids a showdown with another of the main favorites for the title. at least in the first two rounds of the tournament.

In the race for the season, Nick appears even better placed, taking 20th place in the race for the ATP Finals. He might even have been better on both lists had the Wimbledon campaign earned points. The Aussie would feature in the top 10 for the season and would be in the top 15 of the 52-week standings.

Champion in Montreal, on his first conquest in the Masters 1000, the Spaniard Pablo Carreño also gained nine positions on Monday and returned to the top 15, appearing in 14th place, still a little below the best mark, since it was already in the top 10 in September 2017.

Good climbs were also made by Britons Daniel Evans and Jack Draper, who went far in the Canadian tournament. Semi-finalist, the experienced Evans gained 16 places and is now 23rd in the world, a position below his career high. The young Draper, just 20 years old, climbed 27 places with the quarter-finals and is now 55th in the world, his highest ranking to date.

At the top of the list, the main change was the rise of Norwegian Casper Ruud, who returned to the top 5 after the semi-final in Montreal. He went from seventh to fifth, while Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas did the exact opposite and is now world number 7.
