Cincinnati (USA) – Beatriz Haddad Maia’s partnership with Kazakh Anna Danilina, who reached the Australian Open final earlier in the season, will resume next week at the Cincinnati WTA 1000.

Bia and Danilina make their debuts against Australian Samantha Stosur and Taiwanese Latisha Chan, who recently played alongside the Brazilian in San Jose. In case of victory, they face the Japanese Ena Shibahara or the Chinese Shuai Zhang, heads 3 of the tournament.

The last tournament Bia and Danilina played together was on grass at Eastbourne in June. Although they have played a few competitions side by side in recent weeks, especially as Kazakhstan enter smaller tournaments to try to climb the singles rankings, they are currently in 9th place in the race for a place in the WTA Finals.

In the same quadrant are Ukraine’s Lyudmyla Kichenok and 7-seeded Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia, making their debuts against Spain’s Sara Sorribes and Belgium’s Kirsten Flipkens. Whoever wins can face the Indian Sania Mirza and the Czech Lucie Hradecka or the duo of the British Emma Raducanu with the Kazakh Elena Rybakina.

The main favorites are Russian Veronika Kudermetova and Belgian Elise Mertens, who enter directly into the round of 16 and could cross paths with Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski and Mexican Giuliana Olmos in the round of 16.

On the other side of the table are the Czechs Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova, the 2nd seeds of the tournament and current Wimbledon champions, as well as the North Americans Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula, the 4th seeds of the tournament.
