Monday (22) is big for the New York Islanders. The team announced the renewal of Noah Dobson’s contract for another 3 years, who had his best year in the NHL at 21-22. Besides the defender, the Isles have also renewed the contracts of Alexander Romanov (3 years) and Kieffer Bellows (1 year). All three athletes were restricted agents.
At just 22, Dobson emerged as one of the team’s best defenders last season, scoring 13 goals and 38 assists in 80 games. Selected in the first round of the 2018 draft by the New York team, the player already has 72 points in 160 regular season games in his NHL career, in addition to having collected seven assists in 20 playoff games.
Also a 22-year-old defenseman, Romanov will make his debut under a new contract with the Islanders. The Russian signed on draft day this year in a trade with the Montreal Canadiens. In 2021-22, Romanov had three goals and 10 assists in 79 games with Team Canada. At 24, Bellows has 19 points (six goals and 13 assists) in 21-22 and is also in New York looking forward to next season. The player is the son of Brian Bellows, who had a long 18-year career in the NHL. None of the 3 new deals had their values disclosed.
