From August 23 to 25, Belém hosts the “Gold Symposium and the Amazon Mining Fair”. The event will discuss best practices in the production, refining and marketing of gold in the country.
The opening will take place at 5:00 p.m. in Estação das Docas with the presence of specialists, authorities and representatives of the main companies operating in the precious metals segment. Nicole Adshead, Canadian expert, will present a keynote on the challenges of small and medium mining operations.
The 24 program includes panels on “responsible gold production”, “the challenges of mining finance in Brazil”, “regulatory aspects of gold mining” and “the environment and relations with communities”.
On the last day, the meeting will feature a panel dedicated to the main provinces and gold geology in Brazil. Representatives from the Brazilian Geological Service, USP and UFMG will present the main regions with potential for the discovery of gold deposits.
The Symposium ends with a panel discussion that will discuss regulatory challenges for sustainable mining, with the aim of demonstrating that the country has an industrial mining activity that operates legally.
