Brazil has gained another rep in the NBA as Bruno Caboclo has agreed with the Boston Celtics to play next season in the league, according to journalist Keith Smith. The Brazilian stood out in the Summer League playing for the Utah Jazz, then did a training camp with the Celtics himself, before returning to world number one basketball.
Last season Bruno Caboclo played here in Brazil for São Paulo and performed well. The 26-year-old won the Campeonato Paulista and the Champions League Americas with the São Paulo team, being voted MVP of the continental competition. Caboclo had per-game averages of 16.8 points and 7.7 rebounds last NBB, but even with the Habs knocked out in the semifinals for SESI Franca, he picked up another MVP.
The new Celtic reinforcement was revealed by Pinheiros in 2013 and the following year he was chosen twentieth in the draft by the Toronto Raptors. In addition to the Canadian franchise, the winger/center played in the NBA for the Sacramento Kings, Memphis Grizzlies and Houston Rockets, also coming through the G League during this time. Before being hired by São Paulo, Bruno Caboclo made a brief stint of just under five months in Limoges, France.
For 22/23, the Boston Celtics kept the base of the runners-up team from the last edition of the NBA and added some big names to try to get the title this time, like Malcolm Brogdon and Danilo Gallinari. The franchise had a pick in this year’s draft and selected point guard JD Davison in fifty-third.
