The installation of a set of smart luminaires, equipped with 5G technology, began to be deployed this Friday (5), in the central region of the city, from Praça Coronel Fernando Prestes, in Sorocaba (SP).
According to the town hall, the municipality is the first in the southeast region of Brazil to receive, free of charge and as a pilot project, a public lighting system equipped with 5th generation (5G) technology for mobile connectivity, l internet and surveillance cameras. .video surveillance.
There will be 12 luminaires in total, one of which is the matrix, weighing 30 kilos, installed at a strategic point, transmitting the 5G signal within a radius of up to 300 meters and equipped with remote management, brightness control, CCTV camera, facial recognition and LED technology.
The video surveillance mechanism of the luminaries will also be used, in an integrated and effective way, by the Integrated Operations Center (IOC) of the Municipal Guard (GCM) of Sorocaba, helping all the public security forces of the municipality.
The matrix receives the 5G signal and transmits it to the other luminaires, which are smaller and replicate wireless internet within a radius of up to 50 meters each.
The initiative is part of the Conecta 5G program, of the Ministry of Communications, and will be made possible thanks to a partnership between the city of Sorocaba and the Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development (ABDI).
The program, in this first phase, will last three years and resources of more than 10 million reais invested by the ministry. Each smart light has an average value of around R$40,000.
Also according to the town hall, the smart public luminaires are imported from Finland and have been developed by Nokia (Finland) and Juganu (Israel), containing an integrated 5G antenna and using chipset technology from Qualcomm (USA) and another from the same company, for wireless Internet.
