Earlier, the Union of Indigenous Peoples of Vale do Javari (Univaja) also claimed to have found a new vessel in the search area for the missing. According to the organization, the ship was found on Saturday (11).

According to Univaja prosecutor Eliésio Marubo, the vessel may belong to the suspect involved in the disappearance of the two.

A note published by Univaja this Sunday (12), also indicates that information on the ownership of the vessel has yet to be confirmed by those responsible for the investigations.

Univaja issued a memo in response to a demonstration by the National Indian Foundation (Funai), asking the organization about the raids. In this regard, Marubo said that the agency cannot prevent the natives from entering their land.

“The Funai ignores its role when it tries to prevent the Indian from entering its own land. Before being an institution, we are indigenous. We belong to this region and we are prevented from entering our own The memo explains about this, about this criminalization of Funai versus the attempt to criminalize any conduct that our organization has conducted,” he explained.
