The fifth day of Rock in Rio has just begun and an unusual phenomenon is already noticeable in the City of Rock. Hundreds of people brave the scorching Rio de Janeiro sun — thermometers read 37° — to gather in front of the Sunset stage. The reason? April Lavigne. Jerseys and flags bearing the effigy of the Canadian rocker multiply in the gargle.
The pop punk princess has a show scheduled for 9:10 p.m. Before that, they will visit Sunset Di Ferrero with Vitor Kley, Jão and a show in honor of the first Rock in Riofrom 1985.
Such a phenomenon is rare on Sunset. Usually, the crowd next to the grid takes place on the Mundo stage, which receives the main attractions of the festival. This Friday (9), Green Day ends Rock in Rio at 12:10 a.m. Before, Fall Out Boy, Billy Idol and Capital Inicial perform at Mundo.

How was the Avril Lavigne concert in São Paulo?
With a tired face and little stage presence, Avril Lavigne performed on Wednesday (7) in front of a legion of fans in São Paulo. Despite the lack of energy, the Canadian singer – who hadn’t returned to Brazil since 2014 – managed to deliver a nostalgic performance to the crowd with an impeccable voice.
At 37, Avril does not have the same energy as when she set foot on Brazilian soil for the first time in 2005. However, the singer does not fail to please her fans: her repertoire, while celebrating a lot of the new phase with the album Love Sux (2022), was a real journey into the golden age of pop punk with hits that made her immortal.
Avril proved on stage that she is in fact the “fucking princess” of the musical genre of which she has become the ambassador. Play guitar and hit notes with your unmistakable timbre, she showed that she really had the potential to support a Mundo stage. But apparently her fans are going to make Sunset the main stage of the festival this Friday.
