A community of car collectors on Facebook was investigating who might be the owner of a convertible car involved in a terrible accident in the city of Stratford, Canadian region of Ontario, when a person identified the driver of the vehicle, indicating that she would be the grandmother of popstar Justin Bieber, and that she would have narrowly escaped death.

The photo in question showed a firefighter trying to control the fire of two cars: a red convertible in the front and a silver sedan in the back. Apparently there was a rear-end collision and both cars were engulfed in fire. The singer’s grandmother’s car appears to have brought the fire under control, as the smoke coming out of it is white, indicating only the presence of heat and water vapor. The car behind is still on fire.

Several relatives of Justin Bieber live in the crash area and one of them, Brandan Steven, is the one who identified the car and linked it to the singer’s grandmother, Kathy. And it appears that this boy and the star’s father, Jeremy, were in the passenger seats at the time of the collision. The page’s participants asked the boy to go into detail, in which he said, “we were at an intersection when a car was turning left a few cars ahead of us. Then a distracted driver slammed into us; they say that it must have been [dirigindo] at 70,” he revealed, without specifying whether the 70 was miles per hour or kilometers per hour. Either way, the impact was pretty bad. He goes on to say, “This n Wasn’t good having to get my grandmother out of the car. It could have been really bad if we were there another 5 seconds because the doors were closed.”

In the comments to this post, people have bookmarked Jeremy Bieber’s FB page, as well as Kathy herself, who has photos posing with the car. Of course, it’s also the same Kathy that Justin posed with in the past when he was much younger. There aren’t many public photos of him with Kathy and her husband George who is Jeremy’s biological father, but they do exist and have been well documented online. Kathy is Jeremy’s stepmother.
