Luisa Stefani has successfully returned to the field after a year of recovery from a serious knee injury. The Brazilian and Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski overcame this Wednesday the first challenge of the WTA 250 in Chennai, India.
The duo’s victory came against the Greek Despina Papamichail and the British Katie Swan by 2 sets at 0, 6/4 and 6/1.
Now in the quarter-finals, in search of a place in the semi-finals, Luisa and Dabrowski face the winning duo of the match between Indonesian Jessy Rompies and India’s Prarthana Thombare against the association of Indians Rutuja Bhosale and Karman Thandi. The match will take place this Thursday (15), around 10 a.m. (Brasilia time).

Luisa and Gabi formed a duo in the second half of last year, with a WTA 1000 title in Montreal, Canada, and runners-up at the WTA 1000 in Cincinnati and WTA 500 in San Jose, USA. and semi-finals at the US Open, a North American Grand Slam in which Luisa ended up injuring herself and tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in her knee.
After Chennai, Luisa will head to Tokyo, Japan, where she will compete, from the 19th, in the Tokyo WTA 500 tournament, alongside the Japanese Ena Shibahara.
