The funeral queue is closed for new visitors

The UK government has announced that the queue for Queen Elizabeth II’s public funeral in London has been closed for new visitors.

People online will be able to view the monarch’s coffin in a wait that can last for hours. The last update estimated eight hours to say goodbye to the Queen.

Queen Elizabeth will remain in her coffin until 6:30 a.m. EDT for the first funeral service at Westminster Abbey.

Doors will open to customers at 8:00 a.m. local time, 4:00 a.m. Brasília time.

The Queen’s coffin will leave the Palace of Westminster at 10:44 a.m. (6:44 a.m. ET) in the Royal Navy car, accompanied by 142 sailors. The last time the car was used was in 1979, at the funeral of Lord Mountbatten, Prince Philip’s uncle.

At 11 a.m. the body will arrive at Westminster Abbey. This is where Elizabeth II married Philip in 1947 and was crowned queen in 1953.

During the ceremony, Prime Minister Liz Truss is due to deliver a speech, and the event will end at 4:00 p.m. GMT with a two-minute silence in honor of the monarch.

The second funeral will take place in the Chapel of Saint George, at Windsor Castle. After the funeral at Westminster Abbey, the coffin will be carried to Wellington Arch in a 45-minute procession led by Canadian Mounted Police.

The procession will also include representatives of the armed forces of the UK and other Commonwealth countries, the police and the National Health Service.

The coffin will be carried in a hearse from Wellington’s Arch to Windsor Castle, from where another procession will depart for St. George’s Chapel. There, the Queen’s second funeral and interment will take place.

How will the second funeral be?

The second ceremony will represent the end of the reign of Elizabeth II. The Imperial State Crown, Scepter and Orb will be removed from the top of the coffin by the Royal Jeweller.

A mass will be celebrated and at 4.45pm in London (12.45pm GMT) the Queen will be buried alongside her husband Philip and her parents and sister.
