During the Canadian celebration of the International Gita Mahotsav, Chandra Arya, Member of the House of Commons, lobbied for November to be designated Hindu Heritage Month.

Mahotsav took place from September 16 to 18, according to a statement released by Bharat Sevashram Sangha Canada.
On the second day, the festivities took place at the Living Art Center in Mississauga, and on the third day, a Shobha yatra march ended the celebration in the Yonge-Dundas Square neighborhood of downtown Toronto. Canadian MP for Nepean, House of Commons, Chandra Arya, spoke at the event, highlighting her private member’s bill to designate November as Hindu Heritage Month.
According to Arya, the Canadian government should honor the Hindu community for their contributions to the economic and social growth of the country.
“According to the Canadian Mental Health Commission, 1 in 5 people in Canada live with a mental illness each year. According to the 2021 UK Census, around 1 in 5 adults (21%) have suffered from some form of depression. reports that 32.3% of the general population is affected by anxiety or depressive disorders,” Swami Advaitananda Giri, president of the International Meditation Foundation, said in a statement.
He further stated that a serious question arises whether 32.3% of the population experience serious mental health issues such as anxiety or depression. “If 97% of the population is feeling sad, it requires immediate work to fix the problem. The Bhagwat Gita in life is the solution to that and people of other religions go their own way and that is the solution for them.
A video message from Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar Yog Guru Baba Ramdev was also shown during the program. In the message, the Chief Minister said, “With the inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, since 2016 we have been celebrating Gita Mahotsav internationally.”
In Mahotsav Apoorva Srivastava, Consulate General of India, Patric Brown, Mayor of Brampton, Bonnie Crombie, Mayor of Mississauga, Nina Tangri MP for Streetsville, Deepak Anand, MP for Malton also expressed their views.
