Saturday is baby volleyball day! On the penultimate day of matches in the Phase 1 of the Women’s Volleyball World Cup, there were three tie-breaks, with the Brazilian team recovering from the loss, Thailand and Serbia with victories important and teams sent home. See the results of this Saturday (1):

Brazil 3 x 1 China (25-23, 25-17, 25-22 and 25-22)

The Brazilian team played hard and was tested a lot by the Chinese. The victory marked a moment of recovery for the team that lost Friday’s game against Japan. China, Brazil, Japan and Argentina respectively clinched their places for phase 2.

Puerto Rico 3 x 1 Kenya (25-15, 19-25, 25-18 and 25-20)

In the dispute for fourth place, Puerto Rico takes the last place in Group D and eliminates the team of Luizomar de Moura.

South Korea 3 x 1 Croatia (21/25, 29/27, 25/27 and 23/25)

What no one believed has happened. South Korea win their first match of the tournament. The Croatians have had poor results since the Tokyo 2020 quarter-finals.

Dominican Republic 2 x 3 Thailand (29-31, 25-16, 25-21, 22-25 and 11-15)

The Asian team was more effective in attack, 75 to 69 and in volume of play. K. Ajcharaporn with 26 (24 attacks, 1 against and 1 ace) and Pimpichaya 25 (24 attacks and 1 against) were the top scorers from Thailand. Gonzalez 28 (22 attacks, 3 blocks and 3 aces) and Peña (19 attacks and 2 blocks)

Germany 2 x 3 Canada (25-12, 26-24, 23-25, 18-25 and 9-15)

The Canadians, turning around, earned their third win of the tournament and secured a Stage 2 berth in third place in Group C, behind Serbia and the United States, respectively. Germany also managed to qualify for the next stage in fourth position in the group. Gray put in a decisive performance for Canada with 25 points, followed by Van Ryk with 19. On the German side, Alsmeier and Orthmann scored 16.

Colombia 1 x 3 Czech Republic (22-25, 13-25, 25-19 and 18-25)

The Czechs get their first victory and the Colombian team takes the last place in Group D. Both are eliminated. Amanda with 20 points and Dayana with 10 were Colombia’s top scorers. Orvosova scored 17 and Mlejnkova scored 14 for the Czech team.

Bulgaria 3 x 0 Kazakhstan (25-18, 25-22 and 25-18)

Top scorers: Nikitina, 15 and Belova on the Kazakh side, 11; 14-year-old Vasileva and 11-year-old Dimitrova scored for the Bulgarian side.

United States 0 x 3 Serbia (20-25, 23-25 ​​and 13-25)

The win left Serbia top of Group C. Boskovic with 25 and Stevanovic with 8 were the biggest Serbian definers. Coach Kiraly started the game with the reserves and made occasional changes during the game. Bajema with 6 and Drews with 5 were the top North American scorers.

Stage 2 Worlds

We have two new groups in the second phase and teams in the same group do not play each other, i.e. matches in phase 1 do not repeat. The games will take place in two locations: Rotterdam (Netherlands) and Łódź (Poland):

Group E: 4 best in group A (Italy, Netherlands, Belgium and Puerto Rico) against those in group D (China, Brazil, Japan and Argentina)

Group F: Top 4 of Group B (Turkey, Thailand, Dominican Republic and Poland) against those of Group C (Serbia, United States, Canada and Germany)

To stage 3, the top 4 in each group qualify for the playoffs (knockout) (eight teams in total). From then on, quarters, semis and finals.
