A box containing the ashes of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer (1960-1994) is on sale for 250,000 US$, or today the equivalent of just over 1.2 million R$. The object was offered for sale on the personal site of a Canadian collector specializing in objects that belonged to famous criminals, reports the American newspaper. New York Post.
In addition to the box containing Dahmer’s ashes, Taylor James has also offered for sale other items belonging to the criminal and his family on his personal website. Among them are letters sent by the killer to his family members and a Bible he read in prison. The Bible, with its name misspelled on the cover (Dalmer), is on sale for US$6,000 (R$52,000).
Dahmer’s name has been in fashion for a few weeks because of the series “Dahmer: An American Cannibal”. The production starring actor Evan Peters shines the spotlight on the story of one of the most dangerous criminals of all time, responsible for 17 murders and also known for devouring some of his victims.
“The container with the ashes of the Milwaukee Monster is the rarest item I have for sale,” the current owner of the piece said in his statement to international press, referring to the criminal by his nickname. Taylor James has not revealed how he obtained Dahmer’s ashes.
Dahmer committed all 17 murders between 1978 and 1991. He was sentenced to life in prison in 1992 and died aged 34 in 1994 after being beaten by a fellow inmate at Columbia Correctional Institution, a maximum-security prison from the US state of Wisconsin.
He was cremated in 1995, with his ashes shared between his parents. Initially, his mother allowed his brain to be preserved for study by scientists, but the organ was also cremated a year later.
Dahmer’s mother died in 2000. His father, Lionel Dahmer, is alive, but living in seclusion in the state of Ohio. He wrote a book in 1995, ‘A Father’s Story’, giving his side of his son’s story.
