It is wrong that Bolsonaro ignored Justin Trudeau at the G20

It is not true that President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) did not greet the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, at a G20 meeting in Japan in 2019, as the messages on the networks claim (look here). The video shared with this statement has been edited and does not show the moment the Brazilian turns around and shakes hands with the Canadian.


The misleading posts gathered at least 17,800 on Facebook as of Thursday (17).

Social media posts show video edited to make it look like President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) ignored and failed to greet Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in the G20 Summit in Osaka, Japan on June 29, 2019.


The recording used in the messages excludes the passage in which Bolsonaro turns to Trudeau and shakes his hand. THE stage was originally broadcast by Radio CanadaCanadian public television.


During the event, Justin Trudeau looks at Bolsonaro and waves. The President then turns to the left and greets someone else. Then, after being called by Trudeau, Bolsonaro returns and shakes his hand.
