The decision is still subject to appeal and the amounts of compensation have yet to be calculated by the court; the company stayed a few months with the bond
O Fluminense won yet another legal victory, this time before the Canadian courts, which condemned Dryworld, a former sports equipment manufacturer, to pay compensation to Tricolor. The decision found the company guilty of the breach of contract that occurred in 2016, determining the payment of the amount of compensation which will still be subject to an updated calculation.
– Although the conviction is subject to appeal, the chances of Dryworld reversing it are slim, mainly due to the overwhelming evidence produced by Fluminense – said the club’s vice-president of legal interests, Heraldo Iunes.
Dryworld became Fluminense’s sporting goods supplier in January 2016. Numerous issues with delivery, royalty payments and sponsorship quota led Fluminense to terminate the contract – originally scheduled for five seasons, it was terminated a few months after the start of his mandate.
Tricolor has since attempted to recover the amounts owed. In January 2017, when considering suing the company, Fluminense calculated that it was entitled to receive 15 million reais.
