As the magazine is American, it is not impressive that the list brings together American billionaires as a majority. Even so, the position of the richest man in the world does not belong to an American.

10th place: Steve Ballmer

Ballmer is an American and was one of the first thirty hired by Microsoft. Within the company, he held positions until he was president of the company for fourteen years, from 2000 to 2014. The billionaire also owns a stake in the Los Angeles basketball team. Angeles Clippers, and his current fortune is $79.7 billion, or R423.1 billion.

9th place: Carlos Slim Helu

Slim is the richest man in Mexico, but there he is known by another name: Midas. This is because Midas is a character from Greek mythology who turned everything he touched into gold. 7th place: Larry Ellison

American, Ellison is chairman, chief technology officer and co-founder of software giant Oracle. His fortune is valued at R$101.3 billion or R$537.8 billion.

6th: Bill Gates

The American founder of Microsoft and “father of Windows” championed staying on top of the billionaires for 14 consecutive years until 2007, when Mexican businessman Carlos Slim overtook his position. His fortune is 104.2 billion US dollars, or 553.2 billion reais.

5th place: Warren Buffett

Also American, the 92-year-old billionaire is one of the most successful investors in the world. Known as the Oracle of Omaha, he has a fortune of US$104.4 billion, the equivalent of 554.2 billion reais. He held the position of richest person in the world in 2008.

4th: Jeff Bezos

A well-known figure among technology enthusiasts, the American is the founder of the e-commerce giant Amazon and already held the top spot in the rankings until September 2021 when he lost the position to Elon Musk. His current fortune is 111.1 billion US dollars or 589.8 billion reais. He also owns the Washington Post and Blue Origin, a company that develops space rockets.

3rd: Gautam Adani

Another Indian on the list. Gautam Adami, whose fortune amounts to 131.4 billion US dollars or 697.5 billion reais, takes third place. He is India’s biggest businessman, with stakes in ports, airports, green energy and fuel.

2nd: Elon Musk

The owner of Tesla and the Twitter he had held the Forbes No. 1 spot since September 2021, when he took over from Jeff Bezos. He was overtaken this week by Bernard Arnault🇧🇷 His fortune is estimated at 163.7 billion US dollars or 869 billion reais. Musk is a South African-Canadian and naturalized American.

1st prize: Bernard Arnault

The Frenchman overtook Elon Musk this week and is now the richest person in the world, with a fortune of $181.8 billion, the equivalent of R$965.1 billion.
Arnault is the chief executive of LVMH, owner of the luxury brands Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs.
