The Golden State Warriors could have a major reinforcement next Saturday (31), with the return of Andrew Wiggins from injury. The star injured his adductors during the duel against the Houston Rockets in early December. Thus, he missed the current NBA champion for 11 games.
Recovered from injury, the Warriors were to have Andrew Wiggins this Wednesday. However, the 27-year-old fell ill and will not play against the Utah Jazz. The striker must therefore be available on Saturday, when Steve Kerr’s team will face the Portland Trail Blazers.
Wiggins was cleared to play but ended up ill. Despite this, the condition is not serious and the athlete must be available for the team. The Canadiens, by the way, are having a great season. That’s because in 22 games played, he averaged 19.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.4 steals. Additionally, he converted 51.1% from the court, 45% from the perimeter.
During the away period, the Warriors did poorly. In the 11 games, the team won four of their engagements. Remember, then, that Stephen Curry was also hurt.
Golden State’s star player, after all, suffered from shoulder issues after their Dec. 14 loss to the Indiana Pacers. At the time, the doctors indicated that he could play in “a few weeks”. Although it does not state the exact time frame, it was feared that it could span an even longer period.

Just over a week later, however, the Warriors announced that Curry would undergo further testing within two weeks. Thus, there is no deadline set for the return of the ace.
So, with two key players on the roster, Kerr had to trust his bench. While Jordan Poole took over from Curry, Donte DiVincenzo replaced Wiggins.
By the way, bank workers are doing well in 2022/23. Poole, who started 16 games as a starter, has good numbers. The goalie is averaging 19.6 points and 4.4 assists. DiVincenzo, in turn, started just six games in the starting quintet and has simpler averages. That’s because he’s still going through a process of adapting to the Warriors scheme.
Proof of this is that in the victory against the Charlotte Hornets, he spent zero points for 30 minutes on the court. In contrast, in the triumph over the Memphis Grizzlies, he scored 19 points.
The return of Wiggins could therefore be fundamental for the San Francisco team. After all, the current champion has the fifth-worst defense in the NBA with 117.3 points conceded per night. The presence of the winger, then, may change this scenario, as he is known for his scoring power.
Currently, the Warriors are bottom of the play-in standings. Ranked 10th in the Western Conference, the franchise has 17 wins and 18 losses this season.
