The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) has signed a contract with the Canadian company C6 Embedded launch systemswhich became another selected to perform launches from the Alcântara Space Center (CEA), in Maranhão.
This contract is part of the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB) Public Notice of Call No. 02/2020, of May 22, 2020, which already has other selected international companies.
A ceremony was held in Brasília and brought together general officers of the FAB, such as the Commander of Aerospace Operations, Heraldo Luiz Rodrigues, the President of the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB), Carlos Augusto Teixeira de Moura, representatives of C6 Sistemas de Launcha e Serviços do Brasil and, via videoconference, the CEO of C6, Richard Mccammon.
“Today, with the signing of this contract, a giant step has been taken towards exploration at the Alcântara Launch Center. At the same time, the Brazilian Space Agency collaborated with the Air Force Command to sign agreements making commercial exploration of Alcântara possible.“said Heraldo Luiz.
Other companies that had already been selected for such operations are Hyperion, Orion AST and Virgin Orbit. The latter uses a Boeing 747 to launch its rockets.
