Time Brazil has completed another brilliant season in Olympic sports. A total of 23 medals have been won at the World Championships in various sports, including seven gold medals awarded by great athletes, such as Rayssa Leal, on the skateboard, Rebeca Andrade, in artistic gymnastics, and Filipe Toledo, in surfing. Brazilian athletes have won seven gold, six silver and ten bronze medals at the World Championships. The top seven were: Alison dos Santos (athletics); Ana Patrícia/Duda (beach volleyball); Filipe Toledo (surfing); Mayra Aguiar (judo); Rafaela Silva (judo); Rayssa Leal (skate); Rebeca Andrade (artistic gymnastics).

Known as Piu, the charismatic Alison dos Santos has had the best season of her career. Perfect all year round he won all nine races he participated inincluding the Worlds in the 400m hurdles, his specialty.

The duo Ana Patrícia and Duda won the Beach Volleyball World Cup with a victory over Canadians Bukovec and Brandie by two sets to nil. The tournament was played in Rome, Italy in June this year. It was the first World Cup in the professional category in the lives of both athletes – both were two-time World Under-21 champions early in their careers.

Filipe Toledo was set to win the long-awaited world surfing title for Brazil. In the WSL final on the beach in Lower Trestles, California, the star beat compatriot Ítalo Ferreira and took first place in the stage standings. It was Brazil’s fourth consecutive victory in the World Surf League – Medina won in 2018 and 2021, in addition to Ítalo Ferreira himself, in 2019.

On the mat, Mayra Aguiar, in the category up to 78 kg, and Rafaela Silva, in the category up to 57 kg, won the World Judo Championship. The tournament took place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Now Mayra can shout to the world that she is a three-time champion, while Rafaela Silva is a two-time champion after a difficult period marked by doping sanctions.

Silver at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Rayssa Leal also won the most important trophy of its modality. The Street League Skateboarding (SLS) decided in Rio de Janeiro, at Arena Carioca 1, with a show from the 14-year-old girl. Inspired all season long after undisputed STU Open Rio titleshe finished with first place in all stages of World Skateboarding, beating opponents and friends like Pâmela Rosa and Chloe Covell.

To close the list, Rebeca Andrade became the first Brazilian athlete to win the gold medal of the Artistic Gymnastics World Championship in the general individual category – considered the most important in the sports scenario. She also won bronze on floor, with a show marked by the song “Baile de Favela”. After the conquest, Rebeca stressed, in a press conference, that she is closer to retirement than to the start of her career – the closure of gymnasiums may take place after the Paris Olympics in 2024.
