Adelaide (Australia) – The last two ATP 250 Adelaide 1 quarter-final spots went to Jannik Sinner and Sebastian Korda. They won their matches on Wednesday and will battle for a place in the semi-finals of the Australian Open pre-competition. Sinner won the only previous duel, played a year and a half ago in Washington.

World number 15 and seeded 6 in the tournament, Sinner beat Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis by 7/6 (7-2) and 6/4. The 21-year-old Italian is yet to drop a set in the competition, having beaten Briton Kyle Edmund on his debut. Kokkinakis, from Adelaide, won one of the tournaments hosted by his hometown in the first two weeks of last year.

Korda also didn’t drop a set in the tournament. Tormented by former world number 1 Andy Murray in the first round, the 22-year-old North American and 33rd in the standings beat another experienced rival. He scored a 6/4 double against the 34-year-old Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut, 21st in the world.

The match between Sinner and Korda takes place from 11:30 p.m. (Brasilia time) this Thursday. Earlier, at 9:30 p.m., the Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka faces the Australian Alexei Popyrin. The round continues at dawn and on Friday morning. From 1:30 am, Daniil Medvedev and Karen Khachanov face off in a Russian duel. Serbian Novak Djokovic plays at 7 a.m. against Canadian Denis Shapovalov.
