Argentinian rescue teams searched for the man, until on Tuesday a body was found floating on the Brazilian side of the Iguaçu River near the Tancredo Neves International Bridge in Foz do Iguaçu.

The victim was found by employees of a company that organizes excursions on the Iguaçu River, who called the Brazilian Navy to rescue the body.

People who saw the moment the man fell into the falls told Argentine authorities that he would have climbed onto the railing of the access walkway at Salto Bosett, to take a selfiewhen he lost his balance.

The body was taken to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) in Foz do Iguaçu, pending official recognition. The Canadian Embassy must follow up on the file.

Last week, the Iguaçu Falls recorded the second highest water flow since 1997, with 16 million liters per second. Normal flow is 1.5 million liters per second.

Due to high flow, the main walkway on the Brazilian side of the falls was closed for three days. On the Argentinian side, an access bridge to Garganta do Diabo was also closed.
